[Video] The Rentals -“Friends Of P.”(Throwback)

Remember the motherfucking Rentals? It’s okay if you don’t. While many of  the twelve year old versions of ourselves were at soccer practice or whatever it is twelve year olds do, my twelve year old ass was getting schooled up on the likes of The Rentals, Of Montreal, Adobo, and Portishead by my uber cool older sister. So I forgive you if this song somehow managed to evade your ears for so long…

Anyhow, Matt Sharpe, the frontman for The Rentals was originally the bass player for Weezer on their career making “Blue” album, but split from the group before they entered the mainstream media. Too bad for Matt that he never got to be a part of that Weezer money, but good for us that he formed one of the first hipster-pop-rock outfits and we got to be rad for listening to them.

One of my first concerts as well (At the super-chic University of Utah ;)),”Friends Of P.”was the track that got me hooked, and since I heard it on channel 93.3’s “Throwback” lunch today, I figured it should crawl out of hibernation and back onto our interwebs… enjoy.
