![Tommie Sunshine & Disco Fries - ‘212 by Azaelia Banks ft. Lazy Jay (Tommie Sunshine & Disco Fries Edit)’Oh how I remember the first time I laid my eyes on the Brooklyn Man/Beast that is Tommie Sunshine. It was roughly five years ago, attending an event (Skylab mah-fuckas) thrown by the company for which I now write (Triad Dragons/GDM) in the glamorous fairground district of Southern Danvur. Promptly after stepping into the main area, my ears were being buzzed by something that was completely new. Being a fresh face in the ‘07 scene, I was more into the Bad Boy Bills, DJ Irene’s and Benny Benassi’s of the World, but there had always been a very large indie-punk-hip-hop component to my listening pleaure which I never knew hot to quite satiate. This all changed with one hour-long set put on by none other than the Fire-God himself Tommie Sunshine.
Our crew was bombarded by Ol’ Dirty Bastard mash-ups, AC/DC edits and remixes of every style of music I loved… To this day there have maybe been one or two shows that have had me half this hyped. Tommie was the first producer to open my eyes to the underground EDM World, and oh, how beautiful it is… a place full of Magnetic Man, SBTRKT, Knife Party, Richie Hawtin, Minnesota, Vega and Neon Indian.
These days, five years removed from said show Tommie Sunshine is busy working on his own label and continually putting out indie dance gold, most of the time with his new familia Disco Fries. The trio have been like the Santa Clauses of Soundcloud the last few months dropping edits, boots and all kinds of mixes for free. (Here is the link to Tommie’s SC). Nothing gets my proverbial “D” quite as hard as hearing and writing about new music from an artist who I consider to be one of my favorites as well. So here ya’ go Electric Nation, their newest remix: “212”.
Electric/Eclectic
Ah Hell, i’m feeling ambitious today. Here’s Another
